Taco Bell Foundation for Teens’ vision to inspire teens to graduate from high school by providing them with career, college and community experiences aligns with BGCA’s own mission.

In 2009, Taco Bell Foundation for Teens will help BGCA to strengthen our Keystone program to help it play an even larger role in recruiting and retaining teens – a key to our academic success/high school graduation strategy. In addition, local Taco Bell franchisees will raise funds to support these national efforts by providing college, career and community experiences to Club teens located in the communities served by Taco Bell restaurants.

Since 2002, BGCA’s Torch Club program has been supported by a grant from Staples Foundation. During that time, Staples has committed more than $10 million dollars to the program.

Torch Clubs are chartered small-group leadership and service clubs for boys and girls. The program is a powerful vehicle through which Club staff can help meet the special needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development. Torch Club members learn to work together to plan and implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness, and social recreation.

Staples also provides incremental support to BGCA through other channels, including in-store promotions and marketing events. Since 2005, Staples has donated up to $1 million of the sales of their Easy Button to BGCA. Staples has also partnered with local Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the nation through grant funding, event sponsorships, monetary and in-kind charitable donations and associate volunteers.

Every year Staples Torch Club Awards are given to individual Torch Clubs engaged in meaningful service projects making a positive difference in the community. Winning Torch Clubs receive monetary donations and are recognized in the community through external media outreach.

Providing support to military families in service to our country. Since 1991 when the Persian Gulf War erupted, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has partnered with the U.S. military to provide youth development programs and activities to the children of military personnel, giving families the vital support they need. Initially, military dependents were provided with memberships to traditional Clubs within their communities. Following the war, BGCA extended the partnership to provide support to Youth Centers on military installations across the United States and abroad. Today, virtually every military Youth Center is a BGCA-affiliated Club. This means that some 458,000 youth in 387 Youth Centers receive the same programs and curriculums Club members in our traditional Clubs receive. More than 70 percent of military families live outside military installations. Today, more than 15,300 military youth are served at 1,216 traditional Clubs.
